Supported by the Chilean NSF (CONICYT), the UNT-Chile Program at Cape Horn is an international network for interdisciplinary environmental research that integrates science, philosophy and policy. Construction of the UNT-Chile Field Station at Puerto Williams will begin within the year. With its Chilean partner, the Institute for Ecology and Biodiversity, the station supports boundary-crossing environmental research opportunities for faculty and students at the southern tip of South America.

The University, which received full accreditation reaffirmation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 2006, enrolls more than 34,000 students. Many programs are highly rated and recognized throughout the world.
Home to the world’s leading graduate program in environmental ethics and top-ranked programs in health librarianship and public administration, the University also shines as the first to offer programs in jazz studies, electronic merchandising and emergency management.

UNT’s innovative student success program — Emerald Eagle Scholars — launched in fall 2007 as one of only 30 such programs in the nation. Designed to ensure costs won’t stop talented students from seeking a higher education, the program helps guide students toward graduation.
With its progressive programs and focus on student success, UNT is a top choice for many of the best and brightest students. Its enrollment increased by more than 37 percent, or 9,100 students, in the last decade alone. This growth has enriched the campus community as African American, Hispanic and Asian enrollments have doubled. With about 2,000 international students representing 116 countries and U.S. students from nearly every state, UNT offers outstanding opportunities for cultural exploration and understanding. By 2012, the University expects to enroll 38,000 students.
