Amber University
HISTORY
In September of 1971, Amberton University began as an extension campus of Abilene Christian University and was located in Mesquite, Texas. From the beginning, the University's purpose was to identify and provide for the educational needs of the community. Quickly, the University turned its attention and interest to educational programs that catered to working adults.
In June of 1974, the campus location was moved to Garland, Texas. The new campus, a two-story professional office building, was designed to cater to mature adults who did not need or desire the environmental trappings associated with traditional colleges (dormitories, cafeterias, gymnasiums, intramural athletics, etc.).
In 1981, the University received accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and plans were approved for separating the institution from Abilene Christian University. The separation was completed in June 1982 and the University took the name Amber University.
In March 2001, the University changed its name from Amber University to Amberton University to more accurately describe its purpose. The English addition of “ton” to a word means a town or village. As a result of offering adult students traditional lecture and nontraditional e-courses, the name more accurately identifies the community of learners.

In Higher Education marketing, experience counts for a lot but so does keeping up with the latest marketing techniques that target the college demographic. With a large percentage of students now online, being able to reach them and connect with them is even more critical. Competition is fierce and University Admissions Offices need to differentiate themselves from the competition. Playing into a niche market is often effective. Are you a Christian University? Do you offer unique programs? Do you have a special member of staff to highlight? All of these allow you to share your story with prospective students with the intention of making that connection.

Bamiyan University
History
Bamyan – “The Place of Shining Light”– sits at the crossroads of many civilisations. Its location near one of the main crossing points through the Hindu Kush means that its history has been heavily influenced by passing merchants, pilgrims and conquerors. In the early centuries of the first millennium AD, Bamyan was part of the Buddhist Kushan empire, which from its base in today’s Afghanistan united large parts of India and Central Asia. The spread of Buddhism from its Indian homeland north into Central Asia and then the Far East began along roads tramped by the traders and soldiers of the Kushan empire.
The earliest references to Bamyan occur in the 4th century, but the first detailed description of the valley was written by the Chinese pilgrim, Hsuan Tsang, who passed through in about 630 AD on his way to visit Buddhist holy sites in India. Recent research has shown that some of the Buddhist frescoes in Bamyan can be dated back to the early 5th century.
Badakhshan Higher Education Institute
INTRODUCTION
Country and Sector Background
Since December 2001 and the inauguration of the Afghanistan Interim Administration (AIA) Afghanistan?s economic, social and political achievements have been extraordinary. The AIA, and the subsequent Transitional Islamic State of Afghanistan (TISA) were confronted with an economy reeling from protracted conflict and drought, more than five million people displaced as refugees in neighboring countries, economic activities steered in an informal or illicit direction by insecurity, and a state that had become virtually non functional in terms of policy making and service delivery ? although the structures and many staff remained. The achievements ? various reforms in the government, a successful constitutional Loya Jirga, peaceful completion of the country?s first ever presidential election, and the inauguration of the new Cabinet in December 2004, just to name a few ? have been significant, and in Afghanistan?s context, remarkable.Saturday, June 11, 2011

Adrian College
Adrian College Releases Mobile Website
This unique tool boasts the capacity to browse current events, news stories, and even schedule a visit to campus. The first mobile website of its kind, it allows users to sign in through their Facebook account, and fully interact with content. The mobile website offers directions to campus and click-to-call buttons to easily connect to anyone at the College.
Adrian College partnered with Prime of Northville, MI to design and build the new mobile site.
“A lot of colleges are looking at mobile apps and social media, but none have paired the two for the good of the students, with a clear vision for how it will help the admissions team,” said Matt Gaidica, a developer on the project.
Adrian College Mobile will be the next step in Adrian College’s new admissions strategy, led by Frank Hribar, Adrian’s Vice President for Enrollment. The idea is to integrate new technology, such as Apple iPad’s, with social media – things that prospective students can identify with.
While many phone “apps” are specific to the mobile device, Adrian College Mobile can be viewed by anyone with a web browser, including (but not limited to) Android, Windows, and Apple devices.
Adrian Mobile continues to challenge new recruitment strategies with a strong success story with a solely internal launch. To date, the site has experienced over 12,406 Visits, with 8,399 Absolute Unique Visitors, 36,650 Pageviews, 558 Facebook shares.
